2020-2021 Optioning Timeline

Class Optioning Meetings, during English and Social Studies:

Grade 11 – January 7, 2020 (English)

Grade 10 – January 8, 2020 (Social Studies):  Bells 6 and 7 meet on January 7, 2020

Grade 9 – January 9, 2020 (Social Studies)

Grade 8 – January 10, 2020 (Social Studies)

Grade 7 – January 13, 2020 (Social Studies)

January 8, 2020 – Parent Board Optioning Meeting

January 14 – February 7, 2020 – Online Optioning via PowerSchool

January 16, 2020 – Lunchtime student AP Fair

January 20 – January 24, 2020 – AP Alert Week

January 22, 2020 – Parent AP Fair during conferences

January 27 – January 31, 2020 – Counselors visit the classrooms to collect optioning forms

February 7, 2020 – Applications due for courses that require approval

Week of March 9, 2020 – Students receive schedule requests for 2020-2121 school year in their English classes.  All requests MUST be submitted by March 20, 2020.  This will be the last opportunity to request changes to your students schedule for the next school year.  Requests will only be accommodated if the class is still available.

March 20, 2020 – Final day to submit schedule changes for 2020-2021.

Optioning Process

Students attend optioning meetings with the English (Grade 11) or Social Studies (Grade 7-10) class

Students attend AP alert week or AP Fair, if appropriate

Students option on PowerSchool for all courses (including courses they are requesting approval for), JANUARY 14 – FEBRUARY 7, 2020.

If any of the courses require approval, please see the link on Schoology and the Walnut Hills website to access application instructions.  All applications are due by FEBRUARY 7, 2020.

Class visits to English or Social Studies classrooms to collect optioning forms – WEEK OF JANUARY 27-JANUARY 31, 2020.

Students complete PAPER optioning form and submit (with parent signature) - DUE FEBRUARY 7, 2020

Students receive a copy of all courses they have been approved for – WEEK OF MARCH 9, 2020.

Students submit any changes to their courses – DUE MARCH 20, 2020
