A wonderful encyclopedia of world art, run by Professor Chris Witcombe of Sweet Briar College, with lots of information, good encycloepdia style articles, and many pictures.

If you need a picture by a specific artist, this is the place. With links to dozens of museum sites and online art collections, this site is a good source for finding specific images.

This site is part of the larger Artcyclopedia; it has basic biographical information on world artists.
