Girls JH Volleyball Tryouts

Wed 8/13 & Thurs 8/14 from 3-6 in the gym.  You must have all your paperwork to tryout.

Girls JH Soccer Tryouts

Tryouts will be at Armleder Park (directions: I-71 N or S; take Red Bank Road (exit 9) onto Red Bank Expressway toward Fairfax. Continue onto Red Bank Road, R onto Wooster Pike. Armleder Park is apprx 1.4 miles on the left, behind the US Bank building), on Wednesday (8/13), Thursday (8/14) and Friday (8/15) from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  NOTE: THE FIRST 30 MINUTES WILL BE DEVOTED TO COLLECTING PAPERWORK, NAMES AND E-MAIL ADDRESSES.

On Wednesday evening, coach will e-mail everyone a list players that are invited to continue to tryout the next day, Thursday (8/14).  At this time, anticipate making final cut Friday evening. For tryouts please wear a white shirt (PLEASE WRITE YOUR LAST NAME ACROSS THE BACK OF YOUR WHITE SHIRT IN BLACK MAGIC MARKER) and bring a yellow penny, your soccer ball, wear your regular soccer gear, and bring PLENTY OF WATER.

IN ORDER TO PARTICPATE IN TRYOUTS YOU MUST HAVE FULLY EXECUTED (1) OHSAA medical/physical forms (4 pages), (2) Emergency Medical Authorization form (1 page), and (3) Release of Liability form (1 page).  NO FORMS, NO PARTICIPATION, NO EXCEPTIONS. Coach Mac Garrigan,  tgarrigan@cinci.rr.com.

Walnut Hills Girls Win National Title

Set Cincinnati Record

The Walnut Hills team of Shauniece Steele, Taylor Ware, Kelly Thomas and Landi Wilson ran 1:44.10 in the 800, which set a Cincinnati girls' city record and is the No. 2 all-time mark for Ohio.

Congratulations to the following members of the Walnut Hills Lady Eagles track team, who achieved All-American(top 6) performances at the Nike Outdoor Nationals, June 20 & 21 at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, NC.

800m Sprint Medley - NATIONAL CHAMPIONS in a time of 1:44.10, a new Cincinnati city record and #2 all-time in Ohio. Sophomore Shauniece Steele, Junior Taylor Ware, Senior Kelly Thomas, and Senior Landi Wilson.   Click to See Race Coverage

4x200m relay - 6th in 1:39.08. Shauniece Steele, Landi Wilson, Kelly Thomas, and Sophomore Ashley Liverpool.

4x400m relay - 5th in 3:49.21. Shauniece Steele, Landi Wilson, Kelly Thomas, and Ashley Liverpool.

Also, individually -

Soph Ashley Liverpool, 2nd in the Emerging Elite 400m in 55.64, breaking her previous school record and personal best by almost a half-second. #2 all-time performer in Cincinnati history.

Soph Shauniece Steele, 8th in the Emerging Elite 100m in 12.70, after running a new personal best of 12.42 in the semi-finals to make the final(not All-American, but obviously a fine performance).

State Championship Results

4x200 - Shauniece Steele, Landi Wilson, Kelly Thomas, Ashley Liverpool - 1:38.60 - 1st

4x400 - Shauniece Steele, Kelly Thomas, Landi Wilson, Ashley Liverpool - 3:45.89 - 1st

4x100 - Shauniece Steele, Taylor Ware, Brittney Morgan, Kelly Thomas - 48.59 - 6th

4 Soccer Girls Sign National Letters of Intent

Congratulations to four members of the Lady Eagles soccer team who plan to continue their playing career in college. From Left to right- Kristi Moore (Wright State), Landi Wilson (South Alabama), Kelly Thomas (George Mason), Iesha King (Wright State). These four girls helped Walnut Hill compile a 16-3-5 overall league record as well as 2 FAVC titles (2004,2006).

Walnut Hills Welcomes New Head Football Coach

Principal Jeff Brokamp officially welcomed new head football coach George Kontsis to the Walnut Hills family on Thursday, January 3. He was introduced to a crowd of existing football players and their families. Coach K and his new staff are very excited to get things going here at Walnut Hills that begins this week with off-season conditioning. The off-season workouts will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:50-4pm in the weight room. For any other question contact the athletic department.

Eligibility Reminder For All Fall Athletes

A reminder to all fall athletes that your 4th quarter grades will determine eligibility for the fall of 2008-2009 season. All JH students must pass 75% of their 4th quarter classes. High school students must pass 5 1-credit classes in the 4th quarter, not including PE class. Summer school classes will not make up for failing 4th quarter grades.
