Walnut Hills High School
Heather has been the athletic trainer at Walnut Hills High
School since 2009. She received her B.S. in Athletic Training
and Physical Education from Miami University in 2007. She is
currently finishing her classes for health education at Northern
Kentucky University. Heather also works at the West Physical
Therapy office for Beacon Orthopedics during the summer.
In her free time, Heather enjoys watching the Reds, Bengals, and
Miami football, basketball and ice hockey. She and her fiancee,
Raymond, reside in Anderson Township with his two children,
Noelle and Lucas.
What is a Certified Athletic Trainer?
The Certified Athletic Trainer is a
highly educated health care professional skilled in the
prevention, recognition, management, and rehabilitation of
injuries that result from physical activity. Specifically, the
ATC specializes in five practice areas or domains:

Prevention of athletic injuries

Recognition, evaluation and
immediate care of athletic injuries

Rehabilitation and reconditioning of
athletic injuries

Health care administration
-
Professional development
The ATC functions as an integral member
of the health care team. The Certified Athletic Trainer works
under the direction of a licensed physician and in cooperation
with other health care professionals, athletics administrators,
coaches and parents. Each Certified Athletic Trainer has
fulfilled the requirements for certification established by the
National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification,
Inc. He/she must also be licensed by the state through the Ohio
Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers
Board.
