US News ranks Walnut Hills 65th and Newsweek ranks Walnut Hills 66th among U.S. high schools

Out of more than 18,000 public high schools in the USA, US News ranks Walnut number 65 in the USA andawards WHHS Gold Medal status.

Each year, Newsweek picks the best high schools in the country based on how hard school staffs work to challenge students with advanced-placement college-level courses and tests. Just over 1.600 schools—only 6 percent of all the public schools in the U.S.—made the list.

Newsweek has ranked Walnut 66th in the nation and #1 in Ohio.

Student Resource Center- Criticism and biographical information on the world's major writers; also includes articles on literary movements, major themes in literature, and the McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of Literature. PASSWORD :CINC48953

Cincinnati Public Library Web Resources- Includes links to many sources of literary criticism and biographical information. You must have your library card number to use these.

Homework Center- Multnomah County (Oregon) Public Library- Many links to good websites in literature, organized by subject.

Biography Resource Bank- Biographical information on famous Americans, literary and otherwise. The person for which you search must be DEAD to be included in here. PASSWORD REQUIRED

Shakespeare on the Internet- The only good source of Shakespeare criticism on the free Web, with hundreds of links to information about the Bard himself, his plays, anf their modern interpretations.

The Literary Encyclopedia- A reference site with hundreds of free articles on British and American authors. Be sure to check for the reading level: general readers, scholar, college, or high school.

Poets.org- Poetry and information about poets from the American Academy of Poets. It includes poems and short biographies on American poets, as well as clips of modern poets reading their own works (do this at home, please!).
